Our “Coaches in Training ” or CIT’s are typically 13 or 14 years old. Each CIT is required to go through an 8 week course dedicated to developing life and leadership skills. After successful completion of the course each participant is welcome to an interview and only the best candidates are hired. After joining our team, professional development training starts, by working under close supervision of a fully certified coach. They also start working with our adaptive athletes one on one. This enables a CIT to develop the confidence required to become a Recreational Coach, when the time is right.

Our Recreational Coaches are over 15 years old and trained through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). They also participate in many other coach development opportunities throughout the year such as Ontario Coaching Congress, the DIG Congress, Rec Refresh, and even some events in the United States. In house, they receive on-going Professional development training, workshops and support to ensure our recreational programs are top notch. Our staff are also trained in our adaptive program and how to deal with all kinds of needs and behaviours. Needless to say, we take training our staff very seriously.

Frequently Asked Questions

A. Any athletic clothing is perfectly fine. T-shirt, tank tops, sports bras, shorts, leggings, or tight-
fitting pants are all perfectly fine options.

No jewelry is allowed, and long hair (passed the shoulders) must be tied back.

A. Absolutely! Pulsars has 2 viewing areas (upstairs and downstairs) available for our parents to wait
and watch.

We recommend that all parents stay on or near by the premises while their child is in
class.

A. Please ensure that you arrive at the gym at least 10 minutes before your child’s class is
scheduled to start.

We do not supervise the children until their class starts. Parents should
accompany their children until the coach welcomes them into the gym. A coach will call all kids into
the gym once the class is scheduled to start.

Athletes will be called in each week through the blue
door in our downstairs viewing room.

A. When the class is done your child’s coach will return your athletes to the same door, they entered
the gym.

We do not deliver athletes to the parking lot or assist with their shoes. It is the parent’s
responsibility to pick their child up from the entrance to the gym.

If you are running late, please call
the club before the end of the class and let us know.

A. Effective Fall 2023, Pulsars has decided to not allow make-up classes. As our demand for classes
continues to grow, we no longer have the space or class capacity to continue to offer makeup classes.

This means that classes missed by your own choice will not receive a make-up class. No matter how
many classes you missed.

We apologize for the inconvenience but make ups are no longer logistically
possible.

A. We do! Pulsars is proud of our Adaptive Gymnastics programs for children with special needs or
for children who might benefit from an adaptive curriculum.

Please visit our adaptive tab for more
information.

A. All our Active Start, Recreational, and Developmental classes follow a rotation schedule that is
consistent for every program (i.e. Junior Gymnastics follows the same schedule regardless of if the
class is on Monday or Wednesday).

The rotations are broken up into 10-minute, 15-minute or 30-
minute segments where athletes participate in age and skill-appropriate activities.

Pulsars is proud to commit to
True Sport and the True Sport principles
